So you’ve just been hired for a freelance project and you need to source a Sony A7s Mirrorless Camera, a couple of Sennheiser Lavalier Mics, and LED light for your shoot. You need kit, and you need it fast.
We know the exact pain point you’re going through. Trust me, we’ve all been there, so much so that we want to give you a 5 tips to make sure you are able to rent the kit you need as quickly as possible.
1. Find at least 3 KitMapper Listers who have the kit you are looking for.
If you’re searching in your postcode, we’ll pull-up the closest kit to you. Go on each individual listing and complete a “Booking Enquiry”. Simply submit your request for the desired time period you will need the kit and we will we will notify the Lister right away.
2. Make sure you enable “New Messages”.
This is a really important step. The rental process depends on both parties communicating back and forth to coordinate the minor logistics of the hire, i.e. pricing and a place to meet to pick-up the kit.
If these two boxes are checked, we will send you notification emails to your desired email address, that way you can get on with your day.
3. Use the KitMapper Chat.
In the video above, you’ll see just how easy it is to use KitMapper Chat! We find that most rentals can be streamlined on the same day.
If a Lister you’ve requested kit from hasn’t messaged you back in a few hours, we suggest sending them another gentle reminder. Our KitMapper community is quite friendly and supportive, so don’t worry about sending them a couple of messages.
4. Give the Listers some lead time.
If you know you have a client project coming up, why not start looking for kit a week in advance. This way the Listers will have more than enough time to get back with you, and you won’t have to scramble to find kit all over London last minute.
If you need suggestions we’re always available to point you in the right direction, which leads me to the last and final tip!
5. I’m not hearing back, what do I do?
If you’ve already prodded the selected Listers and still aren’t hearing back from them, the best way forward is to contact us through the KitMapper Website.
Simply click this speech bubble in the lower right-hand corner.
If you let us know exactly what you’re needing, chances are we know someone else close to you who has those bits of kit. We’ll be sure to help you source all that you need as soon as possible.
Remember we’re always just one chat away. ?
